The wonders and seashores of Zanzibar, with their excellent climate and local weather, make the country a pleasant place to be and rejuvenate your mind. You will now proceed to the Spice Island, which is the stunning island of Zanzibar on Africa’s east coast. Its picturesque landscape of white sand beaches and palm trees swaying in the gentle breeze seems at odds with its rich historical legacy. All of this makes Zanzibar an ideal destination for relaxation and exploration as well as a great place to decompress. The rich blend of African, Arab, and colonial history forms the island’s heritage and offers a unique escape.
The fauna of Zanzibar, also known as Unguja, the main island, reflects its connection to the African mainland during the previous Ice Age.There are only about 1500 Zanzibar purple colobuses, making them one of Africa’s rarest primates. Endemic mammals with continental relations include them. The Zanzibar pink colobus (Procolobus kirkii), which has been isolated on this island for at least 1,000 years, is recognized as a distinct species with entirely different coat patterns, calls, and eating habits than related colobus species on the mainland.
The Zanzibar purple colobus lives in mangrove swamps, agricultural areas, and various drier coastal thickets and coral rag scrub. Roughly one-third of them reside in the Jozani Forest area. The easiest spots to spot colubus are on agricultural land that borders the reserve. They arrive close to the bottom because they are used to seeing people and because of the low vegetation.
Seldom found native species include the critically endangered and likely extinct Zanzibar leopard and the recently discovered Zanzibar servaline genet. Unguja is devoid of enormous wild animals, and its forest areas, which bear a resemblance to Jozani, are home to small antelopes, civets, monkeys, bush pigs, and, rumor has it, the elusive leopard. On the island, one may also find a variety of mongoose species. In rural areas, there is an abundance of butterflies and a diverse range of birds.
